The CRC 1182 Young Investigator Award and the CRC 1182 Lynn Margulis Fund have been awarded.
CRC 1182 Young Investigator Award 2019
Once a year the CRC 1182 supports 2 junior researchers with each 15,000 €. The aim of the Young Investigator Award is to support on one hand the junior researchers of the CRC 1182 by providing them the possibility to develop their independent research project, on the other hand it is for the whole CRC 1182 the possibility to gain new scientific input and more connections within the research projects.
Shauni Doms, Phd student of the lab of Prof. Dr. John Baines at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Biology, has been awarded for his proposed project “Characterization of Sirt4 and its relation to the gut microbiome and circadian rhythms in Drosophila”.
Jinru He, Phd student of the lab of Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Thomas Bosch at the Zoological Institute at Kiel University, received the funding for his proposed project “Resolving Hydra-microbe interactions at single-cell resolution: a pilot scRNA-seq study for the CRC 1182 community”

Dr. Anna Roik, Postdoc of the lab of Prof. Dr. Ute Hentschel Humeida at the Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research GEOMAR, received the funding for her proposed project “Coral microbiome transplantation – Towards a functional understanding of a probiotic therapy for corals“, which she will conduct in close cooperation with her female scientist host Prof. Dr. Raquel Peixoto, Institute of Microbiology, Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), Brazil and Genome Center, University of California, Davis, CA, USA.
Dr. Florence Bansept, Postdoc of the lab of Prof. Dr. Arne Traulsen at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Biology, received the funding for her proposed project “Selection of in silico microbial communities“, which she will conduct in close cooperation with her female scientist host Dr. Wenying Shou, Associate Member in the Basic Sciences Division at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Seattle.
